Emma Ovaska:

Welcome back to the ZIZO Effect Recap. My name is Emma and today we're covering episodes seven through nine, where we explore effective budgeting for incentives, the birth ZIZO and explore further into its evolution. Let's dive in. Episode seven, "Smart Spend Big Impact: Budgeting for Meaningful Incentives" explores the strategic concept of incentives. Here's a moment where Jimmy discusses the fine balance needed for impactful incentives.

Jimmy Chebat:

It's really important to provide equal opportunity for people, and I think when you create a diverse distribution plan strategy where everybody has a fair opportunity to win those incentives, because if you are just doing, hey, we're going to do the contest where you know the most sales wins, that's really not that fair because you've got people who have been there longer, who have higher skill sets, who have been trained and they have a distinct advantage and so you're going to alienate the rest of the workforce.

Emma Ovaska:

Understanding the nuances of incentives allows for a more engaged and motivated team. Now let's transition into the origin story of ZIZO. Next, episode 8, "The ZIZO Origin Story: Part 1", begins our journey into the backstory of ZIZO's existence. Listen to Jimmy discussing the early ideas that fueled the ZIZO revolution.

Jimmy Chebat:

There was a gap in, you know, human resources. From a managerial standpoint, we were kind of going off the fly here. We used to measure a single metric, which is monthly goal. There's information in there, but you got to go hunting and you got to go digging. What I decided to do is reverse engineer that primary KPI, and so I needed to collect data. I understood the power of the whiteboard. I didn't want to replace that recognition tool. I built a web browser based tool that would allow me to display all of the data that I was collecting and making it public, and that was the next evolution of the product that I was building. I was driving towards a culture of accountability and taking responsibility for your own actions. I started seeing that shift. There was a considerable shift internally in terms of the culture that I wanted to develop, and it was working.

Emma Ovaska:

From a simple idea to a gamification powerhouse, ZIZO's journey is nothing short of inspiring. In Episode 9, "The ZIZO Origin Story: Part 2", we explore how these foundational ideas were implemented, leading to a groundbreaking changes in workplace engagement.

Jimmy Chebat:

Gamification aspect of the whiteboard. This had to be fully automated. I didn't want another system that depended on human interaction. Provide actionable business intelligence, give them one, one source, one place to go, get it fully immersive gamified experience. I want it to be fair and objective. I don't want an automated. So this game engine we talked at length at the core was designed to be able to have different buckets where our clients can decide where they want to put their budgets. Your leaderboard we talked about. You're competing against other people to be one of the top performers and we've even made that based on rank level, where we weight daily record, weekly record, monthly record, all time record, annual record across all of the KPIs. Our avatar system gives individuals the ability to present themselves in a unique Web3 format.

Emma Ovaska:

A reward store.

Jimmy Chebat:

You say Go, redeem those points, those coins, those Z-Bucks. There's a full reporting feature. ZIZO is so damn easy.

Emma Ovaska:

These three episodes not only highlight the mechanics behind ZIZO, but also the human passion and innovation driving its success. As we finish our recap of episodes seven to nine, we've journeyed through the strategic insights and motivational stories that underline the transformative impact of gamification in the workplace.
